The via ferrata is an itinerary both vertical and horizontal (postage or crossing) equipped with different material: normally steel cable and staples (steps) and other elements such as nails, dams, handrails, chains, suspension bridges, pendulums and zip lines, which allow safely reach hard to reach areas.

It is a sporting activity that mixes climbing progression techniques, canyoning (abseiling in some cases) with hiking activity (on approach and return).

The safety is provided by a steel cable installed on the entire track and the harness provided with an energy sink and special ferrata carabiners (marked with a k) that ensure in the event of a fall.
