Ferrata from the quarry of Vilavella (Vilavella)

Approach by car :
Once in the town of Villavella we have to go to the Municipal Sports Center. The ferrata can only be accessed by the sports center complex. Since the entire quarry closed activity the whole complex is limited by metal fence.
The car can be parked in the streets near the sports center.
Approach to the beginning of the ferrata :
Going round the soccer field on the right hand side the direction towards the quarry, then we pass by the “cafeteria” (coffee shop) and at the bottom on the right hand side, after a industrial building we immediately see the information board with all details about the ferrata. After passing the metal fence through a door you will accede to the quarry and then you will reach the life cable of the ferrata.
Description of the Ferrata :
It is a short and vertical ferrata, beginning with a small horizontal section of about 20 meters walk from the quarry, which gains height and leads us to the first steps, not very vertical. After 15 meters going up, the vertical section takes zigzag shape, and after climbing about 20 meters we’ll reach the 1st suspension and aerial bridge of just 4 meters. We climb about 4 meters and again after a small horizontal section we’ll found another suspension bridge, made of wood, about 5 meters long. Then we continue along a horizontal section and we’ll reach the link between the ferrata and the rappel area (to be accesed by staples) the ferrata continues ascending after saving a small spur and then we’ll appear at the top of the quarry with a small path with a metal fence. Now the lifeline goes along with chains and lead us to the end of the ferrata.
Return :
You can return by rappelling without making the final section of the ferrata, or from the top of the quarry (our advice is to visit the ruins of the castle about 100 meters away), then follow small signs indications marks leading us to a path taking you to the town hermitage , and from there we go down towards the cross road by the first streets of the town so we take the 2nd street on the left hand side until we reach the lower part of the town, and again on the left hand side, we’ll reach the sports center area.
